FAQs

How do I book an appointment?

You can book appointments online through this link or by getting in contact with me at sally@sallykingsfordsmith.com.au or 0418 674 851.

What happens in a typical consultation?

Consultations take place in my clinic, a sanctuary of peace and security, where your privacy and confidentiality are of utmost importance. In your first consultation, your presenting problem is discussed and a detailed case history is taken. We'll talk about your current symptoms, as well as areas like your previous health history, your sleep patterns, energy levels, stress levels and how each body system is working. Most importantly, careful attention is paid to your individual emotional and circumstantial environments as every person's story is different and your health at any time is a reflection of these factors. Iridology is also an important part of the assessment.

At the end of the consultation, according to your individual needs, I formulate and dispense a liquid herbal medicine. Every person has a medicine that is made just for them, no two people are the same so no two people ever receive the same mixture. The dose of this medicine is only small, usually only 10-20 drops in water, to be taken three times a day. I may also incorporate flower essences and possibly tissue salts into your natural treatment plan as well.

How will I benefit from seeing you?

You'll be treated with respect and caring and your concerns will be listened to. When you walk out from a consultation you will know that you have found someone who will do their best to help you feel better and in all your consultations with me, you will find that I maintain the same high level of caring.

My treatment plans are simple, easy to comply with. My herbs are dispensed in 50ml bottles, the dosage is low (20 drops in water 3 x daily) and so are easy to take.

I love my work and get a huge amount of satisfaction seeing my patients experience wonderful shifts in their health and outlook with the help of nature's healing pharmacy. My aim is to help you on your path to good health and to support you on your way there, so please call today for more information or to make an appointment.

How much does it cost?

An initial herbal consultation with me goes for 90 minutes and costs $180. Follow-up consultations are at approximately 4 week intervals depending on your unique needs, go for 60 minutes and cost $120. Occasionally, shorter consultations may be appropriate (e.g. for certain acute conditions).

A reiki appointment with me goes for about 90 minutes and costs $120.

Concession prices are also available. Please ask me if you'd like to know more.

What is your cancellation policy?

Appointments cancelled within 48 hours of the appointment time, or any missed appointments, will attract a cancellation fee of 100% of the appointment cost.

Please avoid cancelling or rescheduling appointments. As a small business, last minute cancelled or rescheduled appointments impact everyone. When you give enough notice, it allows me to use that time to help someone else in need. Thank you for understanding.

What sort of things do you treat?

Most importantly, naturopathic herbalists treat people not diseases, so whatever health problem you are experiencing, I can help you enjoy your life more fully. However, most common (and many uncommon) health problems benefit from herbal medicine, especially where medical tests have proved inconclusive but the symptoms remain.

You may also find that my colleague, Nina, is more in alignment with what you're looking for. She's a qualified clinical nutritionist and works from my clinic as well as virtually. We share very similar philosophies and values about health and wellbeing, and you can find out more or book an appointment here.

How long will it take before I feel better?

There is no set amount of time – we are all different, we all react differently and then of course it all depends on how unwell you are and for how long you have been unwell. Having said that, usually my patients report feeling better by the end of the first week, by the end of a month they feel even better again. And after 3 months – even better again.

Aren’t herbal medicines yucky to take?

The way I practise herbal medicine, as taught by Dorothy Hall, the answer is no. My herbal medicine is only a very small dose and is put into water which further dilutes the taste. I always ask my patients to taste the medicine before they leave so that, if necessary, I adjust the taste but in all my years of practice have not had to do so.

Should I expect any side effects?

In my experience – no. I don’t use strong, stirring herbs. I use gently corrective herbs that stimulate the body’s own capacity to heal and rebalance. There are some occasions where people report feeling more tired in the first few days but that is because they have been ignoring the messages that their bodies send them saying they need rest and the herbs allow them to listen and heed the message.

Are your services covered by my private health fund?

As of 1st April 2019 health finds are no longer offering refunds for a number of 'Natural Therapies" including herbal medicine and as such my services are no longer covered. There has been a lot of political 'argy bargy' about this and an ongoing campaign to get this decision reversed, including petitions and representations by our industry to politicians. At the end of the day it seems to come down to a number of different factors including federal government spending cuts plus a whole heap of other jostling and pushing from certain areas of the 'scientific/medical' community.
