It's Time for Some Self Lovin'

Love and friendship are important in life but to love ourselves and be our own friend is the most important love of all and is one that we nearly all struggle with. It's well and truely time for some self loving!

How to do this, you ask? Start with setting aside at least 5 minutes each day to do something for yourself. Something that refuels and refreshes you - it can be as easy as taking 5 minutes before you get up in the morning to do some slow deep breathing and the same at night before you go to sleep, or taking time to say thank you to yourself and your body for both being amazing. When was the last time you stopped and thanked your body for all the incredible things it does every day that you don’t give a second thought to? I do try to give thanks every day to my body for doing its thing so well, but I realised that I hadn’t looked at each part, each organ, each cell and so I paused the other day and started to look at my hands. It staggered me to realise how much I take them for granted and all the amazing things they do for me, day after day after day, year after year after year. So often I think we look in the mirror and instead of looking at ourselves with love and gratitude for our miraculous lives, we look and only see what we perceive to be imperfections or flaws. I had been struggling to find the words to express all this and then the universe helped me out, on Facebook was this wonderful quote which is an excerpt of a blog by author Robin Korth: "...As I looked in the mirror - clear-eyed and brave - I claimed every inch of my body with love, honour and deep care. This body is me. She has held my soul and carried my heart for all of my days. Each wrinkle and imperfection is a badge of my living and of my giving of life. With tears in my eyes, I hugged myself close. I said thank you to God for the gift of my body and my life.."

Beautifully expressed! Try to set aside time each day to honour yourself, to thank your body for all it does, to thank yourself for all you do, and to enjoy who you are. Let me know how you go with it. I’d love to hear what you think, if you’ve changed how you view yourself or even if you’re just giving it a go. I’ll be doing it too.

Love and light,

Sally.
